Exploring the Fraser Valley

In May, Davey and I had the opportunity to work with Flair Air to visit Abbotsford, BC for 48 hours. We explored a lot of the Fraser Valley beyond Abbotsford and I truly believe the are his highly underrated. We had some of the best food in the area, experienced some beautiful sights and loved shopping in the quaint downtown area. Check it out below!

The community of Abbotsford is working hard toward sharing their local produce in a variety of ways. Whether it’s farm to table through the Valley Food Farmer’s Market or using the unique local crops to create the Abby Ale Trail.

Abbotsford has breweries for everyone from Field House Brewing to Raven’s Brewing, whether you like enjoying local live music or getting friends together to play a new board game and enjoy a couple unique brews and delicious food.

Downtown Abbotsford is as quaint as you’ve probably seen it in a Hallmark movie! When it’s not being used for a charming movie, downtown is an easy spot to visit for a morning. Grab a coffee at Old Hand and a pastry at Duft and Co. before checking out the cutest shops. Spruce Collective offers a variety of home goods from rugs and door knobs to paint and cute cards. If you’re looking for clothing head across the way to Montrose and George for a variety of women’s apparel from local makers such as Uniform Handmade to big names like Free People and Matt and Nat. Just beyond downtown you’ll find Shop Bureaux, a store filled with waste free products, as well as clothing for baby, women and men.

We were lucky enough to visit Abbotsford during the last weekend of the most well-known spot in town, the Bloom Tulip Festival! This was a great time to visit the festival as the tulips were in full bloom and we went very early to get the best light. We were lucky that it wasn’t muddy when we went but still wore our Blundstone’s just in case! Plus, Blundstone’s seem to just be a BC must have. We continued driving along the highway to visit Cascade Falls (pictured left). After a short walk up from stairs from the parking lot, you get to this beautiful view and a suspension bridge. We could’ve spent much more time there but decided to keep driving to Bridal Veil Falls (pictured right). We made it to the second waterfall by mid morning and could see the crowds were coming but managed to walk up the short trail and then up towards the waterfall where not too many people go. It was a beautiful spot to visit for sure.

We also visited a nearby town called Harrison Village but I think that town is best depicted by the video below, so check it out to see all the above places and so much more! Trust meee, you’ll want to watch this.
