Glacier National Park 2018

I'm not sure exactly when but at some point in our relationship, Davey and I decided to not give each other physical gifts but rather that we would treat each other to experiences for celebrations instead. This summer, we combined our birthdays, his being August 11th and mine August 6th, and headed back to Montana for a little camping!

Waterton

On my actual birthday we drove to Waterton to camp for the evening before heading into Glacier National Park. Although the land is technically the same, Waterton is in Canada! We really only went into the park to do Bears Hump and later realized it's still closed from the fire last year, so we ended up at the Prince of Wales Hotel and just took a few photos there and then at a beautiful field.

Lake McDonald

In the early morning we drove to Lake McDonald because we had to try get there super early to claim a camping spot at Apgar! We actually didn't get there early enough and we were there before 10 am! Luckily we came back in the afternoon and were able to get a handicap spot since the host is able to give those away later in the day. Definitely lucked out. We spent the day at the lake, got a huckleberry milkshake at The Huckleberry Patch in Hungry Horse and it was incredible. We shot sunset at Lake McDonald and sunrise the next morning as well!

Hidden Lake

We always love stopping here when we are in Glacier! It's a beautiful, fairly mild hike up to the viewpoint! Plus we saw so many goats this time! They were so angry, ready to fight and it even made the little babies imitate them! There are so many beautiful angles, looking up, and to every side. I love seeing all the different coloured flowers and the little waterfalls.

Going-to-the-Sun Road

Always a highlight of the trip, this incredibly narrow and winding road has so many beautiful views. It is only open during the summer months for a very short period which explains how this area is so busy every time we visit! If you are going be sure to check if the road is fully open as well as vehicle regulations as there are various size guidelines. We stopped at one of the pullovers after Hidden Lake to watch the sunset. The smoky conditions have made for very interesting photo conditions, and this was no exception.

Two Medicine Lake

The next morning was an early one! We woke up at 4 am to pack up our campsite and rive to Two Medicine for sunrise! It was pretty chilly in the morning but we loved the colours here and I think Davey was really having some creative spark! We shot for so long and had such a fun time the morning!

Story:

After Two Medicine we went to Lower Two Medicine to take some more photos and we had some very weird glitch with the camera and thought we lost all of our photos from the previous 24 hours. So we definitely were not in the mood to take photos anymore but luckily when we plugged the card into the computer they were still there! Praises.

Selfies!
