Nashville 2017

When I found out that my boyfriend’s brother and sister-in-law lived in Nashville, I knew it would be the perfect excuse to visit Nashville, and of course meet some more of his family too. So two months into dating, we booked a trip for months later! We clearly had a lot of faith in what we had just started.

By the time the trip rolled around I was so excited to be traveling with my best friend! We went at the end of June, and stayed until after the Fourth of July. If you get a chance to spend this holiday anywhere in America, I highly recommend it because the celebrations are on another level. Of the eight days we were there, I’m pretty sure we got rained on seven of the days; so if it’s calling for rain, pack that rain coat! All in all, it was an incredible trip and it was so fun to get to know Davey and his family more.

Here are a few of my highlights from the trip, including a little summary video!

Lemon Laine:

I recently started learning more about clean beauty and all of the toxic ingredients we are putting on our bodies everyday so I was really excited to visit this new, clean beauty store in East Nashville.

I booked a custom face oil appointment and it was so fun! If it weren’t so early I definitely would have made use of the free wine that goes along with it. Laura Lemon, owner of the store guided us through the steps and you really get to customize the oil to what you like and need. I went with the hydrating option and added scents I liked from the rejuvenating base oil. Beauty isn’t one size fits all, and having a natural option that is lighter than coconut oil has been the best thing for my face!

Five Daughters Bakery:

Right next door to Lemon Laine is Five Daughters Bakery, I’m really curious how many donuts the girls who work there have bought because I was addicted from the get go! In the week we were there, I managed to return three separate times, including one on the way to the airport before we left! I don’t think there is a bad flavour available and if you have a sweet tooth like me, you will love it!

Coffee:

Apparently Nashville has some of the best coffee and I do love my coffee! I’m bummed we didn’t get to try more places but, we will be back very soon I’m sure! The one spot we did try is Barista Parlor. I love motorcycles, I know nothing about them but I love them! So seeing all the cool bikes inside and the way they brew coffee like it’s a science experiment was so fun! Every corner of the store was cool to look at, and even the outside is great!

12th South:

Of course we had to hit 12th South and check out all the beautiful murals, cute boutiques and get Jeni’s Ice Cream (and maybe another Five Daughters donut).

Exploring:

We drove out to Sewanee one day to explore. We got to tour a "writers getaway" which was absolutely beautiful, it looks like an old castle inside. We went to Foster Falls and as we got down to the bottom it started absolutely pouring! We snapped one photo and turned right back around to find the path we just hiked down was covered in rushing water. We found a covered picnic spot near the parking lot where we could wring our clothes out and stay dry until the rain passed. As soon as we decided to leave, of course, it cleared up, but we ended up exploring this natural bridge in Sewanee. It was so cool and you feel so tiny. All these caves and paths!

Fourth of July:

Let me just say, fireworks were going off pretty much every day at all hours during our visit, even before July 4th. People get in the spirit like it’s Christmas! But when the day actually arrived, it was just exponential. We got to chill in the pool, make use of our donut floaty and shot off fireworks fireworks in the evening. It was so fun, even if there were a few near accidents.

A few other places we checked out: The Grilled Cheeserie, Mas Tacos, The Frist, Jeni’s Ice Cream. Here is a short video of our time there! Let me know in the comments below if you've been to any of these places and what your favourite was!
